Who We Are

Sanct6.jpg

We Believe

  • We believe that the Bible is the inspired word of God, filled with stories of faith and inspiration, and a source of truth and guidance for daily living.

  • We believe in the Holy Trinity (God, Jesus, the Holy Spirit - our Creator, Redeemer, and Sustainer).

  • We believe that salvation is a gift from God - we are saved by grace - which we have not earned, nor can we 'prove' ourselves worthy by deeds, but are saved by grace through our faith, and in thankfulness we are inspired to offer ourselves in good works to serve and care for others.

  • We believe that Jesus is the Son of God who came in human form and offered himself as a sacrifice for humanity. He died on the cross, was buried, raised to new life, and ascended into heaven,  proving his power over sin and death.

  • We believe in Jesus' promise that he does not leave us alone, but has sent the Holy Spirit as comforter and guide.

The Presbyterian Church USA

Presbyterians trace their history to the 16th century's Protestant Reformation. Our heritage, and much of what we believe, began with the French lawyer John Calvin (1509-1564) whose writings crystallized much  of the Reformed thinking that came before him.

Presbyterians believe the Church is the Body of Christ and neither it, nor Christians as individuals, can be neutral or indifferent to evil in the world.  It affirms the Church's responsibility to speak out on social and moral issues.  To learn more about the Presbyterian Church and its positions on various social issues, please visit PCUSA's Social Issues web page at www.pcusa.org
